| welcome |
 |
|
My live journal is used for both fannish and personal posts. The personal posts are, invariably, f-locked. Fannish posts that are a) purely fannish and b) potentially of general interest are public. My completed stories, icons and episode notes, as well as any meta-fannish observations and discussions, are *always* posted publicly. (I sometimes post story drafts in f-locked posts, but those are just roughs anyway.) Just in case you wandered in here completely by accident all of my stories deal with gay sex, gay romance or both and most of them are sexually explicit. So I'd have to say this LJ is adults only.

| Welcome to My Live Journal |
| Public |
|
Hey and welcome!
In theory, my livejournal is used for both fannish and personal posts. The personal posts are, invariably, f-locked. Fannish posts that are a) purely fannish and b) potentially of general interest are public. My completed stories, icons and episode notes, as well as any meta-fannish observations and discussions, are *always* posted publically.
Anyone is welcome to friend my LJ to get the fannish posts, though I will say that there's precious little fannish content these days and it's very random and sporadic. My love for fandom, and fans, has not dimmed in the slightest and I have hopes that some day there will be more, and more regular, fannish content on my journal; however, since I'm about to move across country, start graduate school and embark on a whole new adventurous part of my life, there's no predicting *when* that will be with more detail than Not Any Time Soon.
If you'd like me to friend you back so you can read about my move, my classes, my hikes, my neuroses, and whatever else is fluttering through my head at the moment, please respond to this post and let me know. All comments will be screened, but I'll definitely see it. If I know you, please remind me where I know you from in your request--I have an embarrassingly bad memory for names most of the time. If I don't know you and you'd like me to add you, respond to this post and tell me a little about yourself. Let's get to know each other.

To make my geeksome servitude to my new obsession complete, I have wallpapers. ::facepalm:: Made for the smallfandomfest prompt "this is my ride". Because everything over there has to have a title, I called them "His Ride". Slashy if you're of a mind to see it that way...
( Clickies for the wallpapers (two of them) if you're interested )
And, now, to bed. I went through the pictures from the Bison Range on Thursday and Johnsrud Park Road today and have those to upload and post about. (I did excurse, though most of it was errands, but it was extremely worthwhile.) I also have to find some new images of barbed wire for Catyah's book cover...projects for tomorrow.

| Fic: Adrenaline (Knight Rider, Michael/KITT, NC-17) |
| Public |
|
Title: Adrenaline Author: Sara Universe/Pairing: Knight Rider, Michael/KITT Rating: NC-17, FRAO, Pants but only as a technicality Word Count: About 2200 Summary: Just as Michael reached for the door handle, too edgy to be sitting still for no reason, KITT asked, “Do you trust me?” Author’s Notes: There is no indecent use of standard automobile parts here, so you don’t have to worry that you’ll never be able to look at your car the same way again if you read it. Written for the smallfandomfest. Betas: This story had a *bunch* of midwives, alphas, and betas. sassyinkpen, valis2, tygermama, catyah and andeincascade all had hands in reassuring and supporting me while writing. sassyinkpen, valis2, and tygermama helped me polish the final product. Any errors that remain are mine.

| PBR Squee!! |
| Public |
|
I don't post all *that* much about bull riding here, just because I realize that the portion of my reading audience (to use the term incredibly loosely) that is actually *interested* is, well, about three people. I love it like crazy, but I don't want to be a bore and there's only so many times I can say "OMG ZOMG Cowboys, squee!!"
But squee I must today because the PBR World Finals (this weekend and next) are proving to be tremendously exciting and awesome. So if you're not interested in tales of heroic self sacrifice, bravery, danger, and really really pretty guys in chaps, just scroll on.
( If you are interested, click here... )
I'm going to post this publicly because PBR is definitely one of my fandoms and, consequently, this counts as a fannish post. :D

::sings:: "I got it from vamysteryfan, She got it from lamardeuse And everyone knows it must have been samtheeagle who gave it to her...": ::/sings:: (The scansion's way off anyway.)
Because we all want our votes to count.
Problems may occur with voting machines that use a touch screen.
"Today a coalition of watchdog groups, including the Brennan Center, Common Cause and Verified Voting, sent warning letters today to every state elections department urging action to calibrate machines against "vote flipping." There's a scary video that shows vote-flipping just this week in an early-voting state. These early problems may not portend democracy's version of Apocalypse Now, but the combination of a record number of early-voting problems, new machines and record turnout is a potent brew likely to portend unprecedented problems in some places on Election Day. Because official efforts to fix these problems haven't yet worked, a million efforts on the outside will be necessary to protect voting rights."
http://samtheeagle.livejournal.com/187855.html has the full post with what you can do.
Also, if you're in a state that has a "straight party ticket" voting option (where you flip one lever/push one button/touch one spot on the touch screen/whatever to register a vote for all candidates from that party), don't do that. There have been problems with vote flipping in several states with the straight ticket votes. Even if you're voting for candidates from only one party, vote for them individually. Then follow samtheeagle's suggestions as well.

| Meme Time--Stories Meme |
| Public |
|
Because I'm a total ditzburger today and not getting *near* enough work done, I'm gonna just go for the toe-shot and do a story meme. ::facepalm::
ETA: Unlocked because it's fannish in content. I feel really weird talking about my writing like this in public--because I feel like I'm dictating my opinions about my writing to other people. So just remember, I do not believe in any sort of authorial privilege and I don't think I have any greater insight into my stories than anyone else does. Hell, I think I often have less.
gakked from fluterbev:
1. What do you think is your best story, and why?
I have two stories that I think are really, *really* good: Duty, Honour and Loyalty in the Holmes/Watson fandom was one of my earliest stories and is still one of my favorites. I love the way the story unfolds through the letters and journal entries. There's definitely stuff I'd like to fix, but I'm really proud of it.
Aguas Profundas (TS), my only gen story of any note, is quite possibly the best thing I've ever written. It's exactly what I wanted it to be. When I look back over it there's nothing that I would change about it. And it's the only story of mine I can say that about, I think.

| Different Kind Of Politics Post |
| Public |
|
Okay, y'all, I don't have time for eloquence. I don't have time for lengthy explanations. I don't have time for any of that. I've got work to do today, and when I'm done with work I've got to get something together for my assignment. I also realize I'm pretty much preaching to the choir here.
So I'm just going to quickly say to everyone here who lives in California:
VOTE NO ON PROP 8!!!Do not be fooled by lies. Do not be fooled by tricksy wording on the ballot proposition. The California Marriage Protection Act would *amend California's constitution* to forever bar gay couples from getting married, despite the rulings of the California Supreme Court. It would eliminate the ability for people who love each other to gain the legal protections and responsibilities of marriage. For god's sake people, Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is *opposed* to Prop 8. To people who don't live in California you can still help in a couple of ways: Option One: Go here and donate money to help oppose Prop 8. If you want you could give $21, one for each year George Takei and Brad Altman were together before they were ALLOWED to get married. Or you could give five dollars for each couple you know in states other than California who *can't* get married. Or you can give a dollar for each year you've enjoyed the privileges of marriage to your spouse. Or you can give as much as you can afford. (And note that they have a matching grant right now, so every buck you give is matched by another one, so you get more bang for your money.) Option Two: If you don't have spare money, you can Go here and volunteer to make phone calls. You don't need to live in California to do this. They give you a script to follow and phone numbers to call. It's really easy. Option Three: Spread the word. I bet everyone on my f-list has at least one person on their f-list in California. So make a post and spread the word. ETA: And if you're wondering why you should care if you don't live in California--I mean aside from the whole "equality and fairness are important everywhere, even places you're not" aspect--CA is a *huge* state and very important in the general landscape of the US. If the Anti-Equality people can be stopped *there*, it gives hope for the rest of the country. Fight the good fight in CA and you may not have to fight it in your own state. If you don't live in the US, you're excused...

If you are a citizen of the United States and at least 18 years old you need to be sure you're registered to vote in the upcoming election. It is very likely that you have MERE DAYS left. In some states the deadline is Oct. 4. That's day after tomorrow.
I don't care who you're going to vote for (well, I do, but that's not the point of this post), you *need* to register and you *need* to vote. If you're wondering *why*, watch this video (called to my attention by mashfanficchick):
The video also tells you *how*, and you'll have a variety of stars including Sarah Silverman and Leonardo DiCaprio and Dustin Hoffman (and other folks I recognize but can't name 'cause I'm lame like that) waiting around for you while you register.
